Abstract:

This seminar gives an introduction to the architecture, modeling, and optimization for heterogeneous/hybrid memory systems. The major objective is to address the "memory wall" and "power wall" issues for the current computing systems and save energy bills. A novel heterogeneous memory architecture based on scratchpad memory is presented by extensively investigating existing memory technologies. Based on this architecture, a set of efficient algorithms are proposed to reduce the memory access cost. This seminar will also cover the challenges of designing heterogeneous memory architecture and solving large scale data allocation problems.
